FAA and Fitness for Duty Evaluations
Stafford Psy Evals provides FAA Tier 2 psychological evaluations and fitness for duty assessments for safety-sensitive roles. Dr. Stafford and Dr. Brown are certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct Tier 2 evaluations, which are typically required when an initial screening indicates an Air Traffic Controller applicant needs a more comprehensive assessment. Referrals are sent directly from the FAA, and evaluations are completed in person at our Georgia and Texas locations. Applicants can expect the assessment process to take approximately five to six hours, including scheduled breaks and lunch.
In addition, our psychologists bring over 30 years of combined experience conducting fitness for duty evaluations for the U.S. Army and provide structured assessments for law enforcement, firefighters, and other safety-sensitive personnel.
When indicated, Dr. Stafford also offers Fast Track Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) evaluations, completed with the same objective, data-driven approach.
All evaluations are conducted independently and in accordance with applicable guidelines. Our role is to assess psychological functioning and provide clear, well-documented findings to support informed decision-making by employers and referral sources, not to advocate for outcomes or employment decisions.
Who This Evaluation Is For
This service is appropriate for:
Air Traffic Controller applicants referred by the FAA for Tier 2 evaluation
Referral sources needing evaluations for safety-sensitive professions
Individuals directed by an employer or regulatory authority to complete a pre-employment psychological evaluation
What the Evaluation Involves
While each evaluation is tailored to the referral question, the process may include:
A comprehensive clinical interview
Standardized psychological testing
Review of medical records
Integration of findings using norm-referenced and evidence-based methods
Preparation of a clear, objective written report

This is an independent psychological evaluation, not a therapeutic service
Completion of an evaluation does not imply clearance, approval, or employment recommendation
